A man spoke ill about Bakr ibn Abdillah Al-Muzani (May Allah shower him with Mercy) and insulted him to a great extend, while he remained silent.

So he was told: Won’t you insult him as he has insulted you?

So he said: I do not know anything bad about him so that I can say it, and it is not permissible for me to falsely accuse him of anything.

شتم رجل بكر بن عبد الله المزنى فبالغ فى شتمه وهو ساكت فقيل له : الا تشتمه كما شتمك ؟ فقال : إنى لا اعرف شيئا من المساوئ حتى اشتمه به ولا يحل لى ان ارميه بالكذب
