Abdullah ibn Ja’ far said: I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal, when asked about a man who records traditions and increases in doing that, saying: He ought to increase in acting upon it as much as he increases in seeking it, then he said: The way to knowledge is like the way to wealth, when the wealth [of one] increases, the charity due on it increases as well [1].
